A well-established, market-leading UK consultancy is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated CAD Technician to join its growing Midlands team. The consultancy provides a comprehensive, “one-stop” service across transport planning, highways design (S278/S38), drainage, environmental planning, implementation and operational support, working on a wide range of engaging projects nationwide.
The Role
As a CAD Technician, you will support the delivery of a variety of highway schemes through feasibility, design and construction stages. You’ll be involved in preparing designs, drawings and technical documentation, liaising with utility providers and service companies, and securing technical approvals from Local Highway Authorities. Projects may include highway improvement schemes, new roads, streetscape enhancements and new infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing highway design solutions for public and private sector clients
- Producing calculations, drawings and specifications to relevant local and national standards
- Developing strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders, external providers and agencies
- Completing assigned tasks to agreed budgets and programmes
- Preparing reports, drawings, schedules, cost estimates and related documentation
- Supporting senior team members with programme and financial reporting
About You
You will have experience delivering projects within a consultancy environment and be comfortable working to deadlines and targets. You’ll be a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with spreadsheets
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage your own workload and work proactively
- Professional and approachable manner with colleagues and clients
- Full UK driving licence
Technical Skills
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office
- Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD
- Working knowledge or experience of ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG
