Location - Ideally Manchester area (UK), Hybrid (Will consider candidates based Yorkshire, M62 Corridor) - Must be commutable to the Manchester office twice per month.
The Opportunity
To support and accelerate our growth in the UK market, we are looking for a Business Development Manager to support pipeline development, identify new opportunities, and help expand presence in the battery storage sector. You will work in a hybrid setup within our small, close-knit 5-person team based in the Manchester area, reporting directly to the Senior Business Development Manager and the Managing Director. This role offers strong progression into a fully autonomous BDM position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the development and execution of a UK business development plan for battery storage solutions.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities, partnerships, and sales leads within the BESS market.
- Assist in building and maintaining a strong sales pipeline using CRM systems.
- Engage with prospective clients to understand their energy storage needs and help present tailored solutions.
- Work closely with tendering and technical teams to support the preparation of competitive proposals.
- Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions alongside senior team members.
- Conduct market research into trends, competitors, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the UK battery storage market.
- Attend industry events and networking functions to build relationships and increase brand visibility.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular updates on pipeline progress and performance metrics.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years’ experience in business development, sales, or a commercial role (renewables, energy, infrastructure, or technical sectors preferred).
- Ideal industry sectors: EV Charging, BESS, ESS, Renewables, Power Generation, Facilities Management.
- Must have strong new business skills.
- Strong interest in battery storage and the UK energy market.
- Commercial mindset with ambition to build a career in energy storage.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple opportunities.
- Comfortable working both independently and within a small, collaborative team.
- Financial awareness and willingness to learn about margins and deal structuring.
- Degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (preferred but not essential).
