Reports to: Senior Pastor

Position Summary: The Family Worker is a part-time role within the church, serving families and children. The successful candidate will lead and develop our children’s ministry, coordinate a midweek playgroup for young families, manage volunteer rotas, oversee DBS processes, and ensure high standards of safeguarding are maintained across all children’s activities.

Working Hours: The successful candidate must be available to work the following hours:

  • Sunday: 8:30am – 1:30pm
  • Monday: Between 9:30am and 2pm
  • Tuesday: Between 9:30am and 2pm

About Redeemer: Redeemer Church London is a vibrant and evangelical church in Ealing, bringing together a diverse and growing congregation of over 400 people. Led by a team of six Elders and supported by seven staff members, we meet each Sunday for two morning services at the University of West London and an evening gathering at The Hub. Christian Commitment: Due to the nature of this role, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the Employment Equality Act (Religion or belief) Regulations 2003 that the post holder is a truly committed Christian, in support of the Ministry of Redeemer Church London. In determining whether the applicant meets this specification, this will in part, be considered demonstrable by the following additional specifications:

Main Responsibilities: The main role and responsibilities of the Family Worker can be easily broken down into two headings; Sundays and Midweek.

Sundays:

  • Oversee the children’s ministry on Sundays and ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Recruit, support, and encourage team leaders and volunteers.
  • Coordinate the teaching curriculum, including preparing, printing, and distributing materials.
  • Ensure resources are readily available for all teams, including toys and craft materials.
  • Oversee room setup and ensure all spaces are safe, welcoming, and suitable for children.
  • Oversee the check‑in and check‑out process for children.
  • Greet and welcome new families, settling them in, as required to the children’s activities.

Midweek:

  • Ensure all children’s ministry volunteers have up‑to‑date DBS checks.
  • Assist with the annual safeguarding policy review.
  • Manage the children’s ministry budget responsibly.
  • Purchase all necessary resources for Sunday and midweek activities.
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly staff meeting (normally held on a Monday morning).
  • Organise and lead meetings, training sessions, and updates for volunteers and families.
  • Encourage connections between new families and the wider life of the church.
  • Coordinate a meal train for new parents, helping to provide meals and practical support.
  • Build relationships with local families by running a weekly playgroup.
  • Support and develop opportunities to engage with families in the local community.
  • Be available to listen and pray, support and encourage parents.
  • Support wider church activities and events as needed, particularly during busier periods.
