Christ Church Queensferry is located in the centre of South Queensferry and is a church plant from Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh. The church has experienced growth since it was established in 2021, with an increasing number of children and young people associated with it. Our vision is to see lives transformed in Queensferry, through Jesus, to the glory of God. We are thankful for the way people have sacrificially committed to this vision, forming good friendships and bearing one another’s burdens. We are seeking a passionate and gifted individual to lead and develop our ministry among children, youth, and families. The role is being offered on an initial two-year basis.

We are a conservative, reformed, evangelical church in the Baptist tradition holding to both the inerrancy and the sufficiency of scripture. We believe the church should seek to reach the lost through the proclamation of the gospel and teach people, in the power of that same gospel and through the gift of the Spirit, to live lives in service to God whilst being continually transformed in character to the likeness of his Son. In ministry and in the home, we affirm the complementary natures of men and women, with the role of elder being reserved for men. We practice believer’s baptism, church membership, and a ‘close’ communion table. We believe in congregationalism, led by qualified, male elders. We are committed to both the plurality and parity of elders. We accept a diversity of opinions on secondary matters within the church, provided members hold firmly to our Statement of Faith and are willing to be a source of unity, rather than division, within our church body.

  • Living out a personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Committed to godly, servant-hearted ministry.
  • Affirmation from current church as to your suitability for a vocational ministry role.
  • Committed to the vision of Christ Church Queensferry and in agreement with our Statement of Faith.
  • Successful PVG check and a commitment to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Theologically trained or a willingness to pursue further study.
  • Experience of and passion for working with young people, with a desire to foster whole-hearted discipleship, engagement with not-yet-believing friends and clarity and compassion with cultural hot-button issues.
  • A strong team player able to give and receive feedback, with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to plan effectively and work independently at times.
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form, to build relationships with children, youth, parents and ministry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee engaging discipleship programs, events, and teaching for children and young people.
  • Support families in faith formation, providing pastoral care, resources, and opportunities for growth.
  • Encourage and equip healthy leadership teams within our children and youth ministry.
  • Build connections with local schools, families, and organisations (such as Scripture Union) to expand the church’s impact.
  • Opportunities for ongoing ministry training through external providers as well as hands-on ministry experience across the life of our church.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time role offered, initially, for 2 years. The salary for this role is between £33,500 and £35,000 depending on skills, qualifications and experience. You will also receive a workplace pension with employer contributions of 8% over your full salary. Working hours are over 5 days and will include some evening commitments. In addition to a normal entitlement of two days off per week, you are entitled to six weeks (30 working days) paid holidays per annum plus statutory bank holidays. It would be highly desirable for the post-holder to live in South Queensferry during their employment but, due to the fixed-term nature of the role, this would not be an essential requirement. You will be responsible to the elders and line-managed by the Lead Pastor. The nature of this post gives rise to an Occupational Requirement (under the Equality Act 2010) for the post holder to be a Christian. All staff in these posts are required to demonstrate a clear, personal commitment to the Christian faith. Christ Church Queensferry is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All staff and volunteers are therefore expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment. The successful applicant for this role will be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
