Position: Data Protection Officer (PII Compliance)

Type: Contract

Compensation: $40 - $70/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation and management of PII compliance protocols to ensure the protection and lawful processing of personal data.
  • Evaluate data flows and documentation to identify, classify, and mitigate risks associated with structural identifiability, including non-obvious PII.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, review, and update policies on data management, privacy, and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on best practices for handling sensitive documents and managing personally identifiable information.
  • Serve as the primary liaison during data privacy incidents, supporting swift investigation and remediation efforts.
  • Maintain detailed records of processing activities to support regulatory reporting and transparency initiatives.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in PII compliance, with proven expertise in handling complex and non-trivial PII scenarios.
  • Possess a deep understanding of GDPR, data privacy, and compliance standards.
  • Have a strong background in data management, including techniques for generalizing or omitting content to minimize re-identification risk.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex privacy concepts clearly.
  • Have experience handling sensitive documents, especially within finance or corporate environments.
