The actuarial pricing team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking to hire a motivated actuary to join the team. This role will have responsibility for the following:
- Working with partners to continue developing out best-in-class FinPro rating models and methods by making greater use of our technology, internal data assets and exploring broader datasets.
- Partner with underwriting leadership to provide strategic direction as needed.
- Support individual deal pricing focusing on large FinPro accounts.
- Deliver quarterly profitability reviews that provide portfolio steering insight and underwriting recommendations to our FinPro underwriting leaders.
- Coordinate the rate monitoring process produced by the rating models and ensure feedback loops back to our profitability and planning analysis.
- Research analysis into the external market environment including industry trends, market conditions, and rate change.
A successful candidate will take ownership of our pricing models and be creative in finding ways to improve them. FinPro data is heterogeneous, so the individual should be comfortable working with limited data and be curious to find ways alternative data sources can be incorporated. The role also requires developing strong product knowledge and a willingness to partner with underwriting/claims leadership.
About the Team: We are the actuarial team providing support to multiple global Corporate Solutions Financial Products including Construction PI, General PI, Agents, Accountants & Consultants, Lawyers, Cyber and Transactional Liability. Key responsibilities for our team include loss ratio projections, rating plan development, model calibration and actuarial pricing support. We work closely with our business partners and encourage innovation that supports traditional methods. This role will report to the Senior Pricing Actuary for Global FinPro PI within Corporate Solutions.
About You: Our expectations are just as large as yours. We are looking for an ambitious, trustworthy and enthusiastic team player who is keen to progress their career as an actuary. To be successful you need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong organisational and time management capabilities. Do you consider yourself to be a 'self-starter,' able and willing to take initiative and implement measures in a goal-oriented manner with:
- Required: 2-3 years of experience in Commercial Pricing, with proven ability to apply this expertise across multiple P&C business lines.
- Adaptability and comfort in managing multiple assignments simultaneously, even with dynamic priorities.
- Strong work ethic, self-starter, and able to execute on tasks.
- Innovative mindset with a willingness to approach actuarial challenges from fresh perspectives and develop novel analysis.
- Proficiency in R and SQL.
Preferred: Experience in large account pricing and experience rating techniques. Experience working with general or financial liability products.
