Are you a seasoned risk and governance professional with a passion for driving meaningful change in complex, global environments? This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact — leading a critical review and transformation of risk management practices within one of Swiss Re's most dynamic and far-reaching operational units.
About the Role
This is a high-impact mandate at the heart of Swiss Re's Corporate Real Estate & Services (CRES) function. You will take ownership of a comprehensive and critical review of existing risk management, control design, and assurance practices — identifying gaps, recommending targeted improvements, and driving the implementation of agreed measures across the entire unit. Your work will directly shape the strategic importance and effectiveness of the risk and assurance framework for a global organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive review of the existing risk management, control design, and assurance practices across the CRES unit, ensuring no stone is left unturned.
- Identify gaps and recommend targeted measures to enhance the impact, effectiveness, and adherence of the current Swiss Re risk framework.
- Drive implementation of agreed improvement measures, anchoring them firmly within the entire unit of approximately 450 employees across ~70 global locations.
- Prioritise and manage current critical topics including Records Management, Reporting on Events, Issues & Incidents, and Third-Party Risk Management.
- Establish a refined baseline for a deeper, more strategic understanding of the risk and assurance framework within the unit.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels — from operational teams to senior leadership — tailoring communication to suit the audience and context.
- Handle resistance professionally while continuing to drive progress and maintain momentum across the organisation.
- Deliver high-quality outputs and recommendations in a structured and synthesized manner, keeping the timeline and ensuring measurable and sustainable results.
About the Team
The CRES Business Management team is part of a dynamic unit of approximately 450 employees, responsible for delivering comprehensive real estate services and workplace solutions for over 15,000 employees across around 70 locations globally. The team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Swiss Re's global real estate portfolio is managed efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Within this broad and complex operational landscape, effective risk management, robust control design, and strong adherence to governance frameworks are of paramount importance to safeguard the unit's performance and reputation.
About You
You are a senior risk and governance professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring a structured yet open-minded approach to problem-solving, a genuine curiosity to understand matters in depth, and the interpersonal skills to bring people along on a journey of change. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating across diverse, global teams and you know how to turn insight into action.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Extensive, in-depth experience in risk management, control design, and assurance frameworks, ideally within large, complex organisations.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, tangible results in challenging and ambiguous environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in managing and implementing governance frameworks, including Records Management, Incident Reporting, and Third-Party Risk Management.
- Structured analytic approach with the ability to conduct thorough reviews and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Experience within a real estate, facilities management, or corporate services environment.
- Familiarity with global operational environments spanning multiple geographies and regulatory contexts.
The base salary range for this position is between 78'000 GBP and 118'000 GBP for a full-time role.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements.
