CrossCountry have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Fleet Team. We are recruiting for a Fleet Engineer to own the technical challenge of managing our Turbostar (Class 170) Fleet. The successful candidate will oversee the safety, performance, reliability, maintenance, technical development, and the engineering configuration of the Class 170 units operated by CrossCountry.
The selected Turbostar Fleet Engineer will excel by working closely and effectively with industry stakeholders (including Maintainers and RoSCo’s), contributing and leading key meetings to ensure that risks are suitably managed, changes are effectively implemented, and continuous improvement is optimised.
Supporting the Turbostar Fleet & Contract Manager and Professional Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will be part of a wider team delivering the required number of safe, clean, reliable trains each given day in line with the expectation of CrossCountry’s passengers.
Responsibilities of the Role Include:

Being the CrossCountry technical lead for the Class 170 Fleet.

Oversight of Fleet Safety, Performance and Reliability.

Management of the Engineering Change Process including the scrutiny of third party proposals and effective record keeping.

Supporting and leading key Class 170 Fleet related meetings with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Technical Meetings, Reliability Review Meetings).

Informing internal and external stakeholders of key issues and changes with the Class 170 Fleet.

Development of fleet technical strategies in respect to potential reliability / performance improvements (i.e. modifications and maintenance changes etc.) to support wider business cases.

Maximise use of RCM Tools to optimise Fleet Reliability and Maintenance Activities,

Development of detailed reports, analysis, provision of technical advice and project management to ensure that the safety, performance or commercial position of CrossCountry is improved.

Ensure that modification requests are prioritised effectively in line with safety, commercial and reliability requirements.

Deputise for all Fleet & Contract Manager and / or Head of Fleet & Engineering as appropriate.

Participate in Fleet Management “On Call”.

Attendance in Birmingham between CrossCountry Head Office (Multistory) and Maintainer’s Depot (Tyseley TMD), at least three days a week.
Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications & Training:
Essential:

Degree educated and / or tertiary level qualifications in engineering and / or associated fields.

Previous experience of railway vehicle technical issues or working in rail depot environments.
Preferred:
-
Working towards Chartered Engineer status.

CrossCountry will support this on-going development.
Advised:

Personal Track Safety (PTS) Awareness.

TOC PTS Certification to be provided.
Budgetary Salary:
£40K to £50K (Experience Dependent)
