We are looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to lead day‑to‑day finance, deliver reliable reporting and work closely with departmental managers to turn financial insight into practical actions that strengthen cost control and improve profitability.
Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will take ownership of financial reporting and controls, develop the finance team and turn analysis into practical action on profitability, payroll and cash flow.
This opportunity would suit an established Financial Controller or an experienced Assistant Financial Controller ready to take the next step.
What you will do
- Own the month‑end process, delivering accurate, timely management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and clear variance commentary.
- Coordinate budgets and rolling forecasts with the Director of Finance and departmental managers, challenging assumptions and identifying financial risks and opportunities.
- Monitor payroll and departmental costs against trading activity, highlighting variances and supporting corrective action.
- Maintain effective controls over revenue, purchasing, payments and cash, ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Manage cash flow reporting and provide practical financial insight to support operational decisions and profitability.
- Lead and develop the finance team, improving processes, reporting quality and collaboration across departments.
What you will bring
- Experience as a Financial Controller, Assistant Financial Controller or in a comparable senior finance role. Hotel or hospitality experience, particularly within a quality branded hotel, is desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience of month‑end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience supporting and developing a finance team, with the ability to organise workloads and deliver to deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the confidence to investigate variances and recommend practical improvements.
- A commercial approach and the ability to explain financial results clearly to non‑finance colleagues, building effective relationships across departments.
- Confident using financial and hotel operating systems, with experience of Procure Wizard, Opera PMS and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central—or comparable systems—desirable.
- An accountancy qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or equivalent practical experience, is desirable.
What we offer
- A broad, commercially focused role, working closely with the Director of Finance and departmental managers.
- The opportunity to lead and develop the finance team and shape improvements in reporting, financial controls and business performance.
Benefits
- Hotel discounts across the portfolio – staff rates plus up to 50% off food, beverage, and spa
- Paywise+ – access up to 40% of your earned pay and automatic savings options
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and Virtual GP Via Mintago
