HR Advisor

Location: Warrington
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, DOE
Start Date: 1st January 2027

We are recruiting an experienced HR Advisor to provide first-line advisory and administrative support across our UK and Ireland operations, covering approximately 225 employees. This is a generalist role that combines practical employee relations advice with accurate day-to-day HR administration.

The successful candidate will work largely autonomously, managing their own caseload and prioritising work as they see fit, while escalating only complex, high-risk or senior-level matters to the Group Head of HR.
A significant part of the role involves supporting managers through end-to-end employee relations cases (including absence, conduct, performance, probation, grievance and disciplinary matters) and building effective working relationships across multiple sites.

Regular travel to different depots (at least monthly) is required. Experience supporting an operational workforce in a multi-site environment will be particularly relevant.

About Us

Cross Rental Services is the UK & Ireland’s leading specialist asset rental business, delivering cutting-edge HVAC, refrigeration and catering hire solutions. Having experienced significant growth over the past 10 years, our team operates across multiple UK sites in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment.

We are relentlessly focused on our customers and take pride in long-term partnerships with some of the country’s leading retailers, government bodies, facilities managers and process manufacturers. Our critical solutions enable them to achieve their own goals with peace of mind that they are supported in all their HVAC and refrigeration requirements.

Guided by our core values—Respect, Accountability, Teamwork, Commitment, and Integrity—we offer a dynamic workplace where innovation and impact thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line HR advice and support to managers on employee relations matters including conduct, grievance, performance, probation, sickness absence, return-to-work, investigations and formal meetings — managing cases end-to-end where appropriate.
  • Monitor absence, coordinate occupational health referrals and flag trends or complex cases.
  • Manage HR administration across the full employee lifecycle: contractual changes, family leave, flexible working, leavers, letters, and record-keeping in our HRIS HiBob.
  • Prepare and process payroll inputs and administer employee benefits (group life, private medical, eyecare etc.).
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and ensure data protection compliance.
  • Support policy updates, process improvements, training administration and monthly ER KPI reporting.
  • Build strong working relationships across a multi-site business and promote consistent application of policies and company values.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor role within an SME, combining solid HR administration with advisory support to managers.
  • Proven experience managing employee relations matters end-to-end (absence, conduct, capability, performance, probation, grievance, disciplinary and investigations).
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the judgement to know when to escalate.
  • Experience working with an operational workforce in a multi-site environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload independently.
  • Confidence handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Competent user of HR systems (HiBob) and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to different depots at least monthly.

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 3 or 5 (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting employees in both the UK and Ireland.
  • Experience preparing people data reports and supporting audit/compliance activity.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary + 5% employer pension contribution
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Life assurance from day 1 & Private medical insurance upon passing probation
  • Corporate eyecare scheme
  • Continuous learning & development opportunities
