The Role
We are seeking a motivated Depot Operative to join our operations team at our Haydock depot. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our depot, handling the receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. You’ll work collaboratively with a dedicated team to meet customer expectations and uphold our company values.
Key Responsibilities
- Depot Operations: Receive, check, and store goods, ensuring accuracy and condition. Pick, pack, and dispatch orders efficiently. Load and unload goods using forklifts or other material handling equipment (MHE).
- Stock Management: Maintain accurate stock records and perform regular stock checks to ensure operational readiness.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations (ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015). Conduct safety checks (forklift inspections, fire alarms, racking, first aid kits) and manage waste responsibly.
- Equipment & Technology: Operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and depot management systems (e.g., Big Change, InspHire). Ensure equipment is maintained and used safely.
- Customer Service & Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with customers and suppliers, and provide support during peak periods to ensure seamless operations.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid forklift license (B2 & D1, training provided if needed).
- Competence in depot management software and basic IT systems.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

- A tidy work ethic and proficiency with IT systems/software.
