As a mechanical maintenance technician, you are responsible for the reactive and proactive maintenance of various pieces of plant equipment used within a precision engineering environment.

The role, which is being part of an established maintenance team, involves support for maintenance of equipment and plant across the Devizes Sites, reporting directly to the maintenance supervisory team.

You are responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of all equipment and systems within the factory, Including Bespoke manual, automatic & semi-automatic machines used in the manufacture of precision components.

You are required to provide hands on reactive & planned maintenance support to production & non-production equipment on a daily basis. This position involves working a shift pattern and flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the business, this includes occasionally working outside of your core hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanical reactive and planned maintenance on a variation of precision PLC driven machinery, to bespoke in house equipment, this is including equipment but does not limit to lathes, mills, EDM, machining, grinding, conveyors, welders, chillers, Compressor systems and extraction units.
  • Install, align, and commission mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • To be self-sufficient on maintaining & prioritizing your workload throughout the day and be reactive to any new priority jobs submitted.
  • Preventative & Reactive maintenance activities to be logged using Maintmaster CMM software.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency to and above OEM standards.
  • Identify spare parts requirements and assist with inventory management & replenishing depleted stock.
  • Sustain 5S principle within the department to ensure a safe, efficient and professional working environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Requirement:

  • Time served Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3.
  • More than 2years of experience after the apprenticeship.

Preferred but non-essential:

  • Multiskilled Experience with Electrical Maintenance skills.
  • Experience in reading and following Technical Drawings, technical manuals, instructions and warning signs etc.
  • Knowledge/Use of welding equipment, lathes, milling machines and other shop floor equipment.
  • Experience with Lifting, slinging and rigging.
  • PC knowledge including use of Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experience using a computerised maintenance management system.
