Join Our Community Café Team!
Hours: 37 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 3:30pm, Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm
Are you passionate about food, great customer service, and making a positive difference in your local community?
We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Community Café Assistant to join our welcoming team at WestRaven Community Café & Garden. Working alongside our Café Manager and Assistant Chef, you'll help create a warm and inclusive environment where customers, volunteers and community members feel valued and supported.
This is more than just a café role. You'll play an important part in supporting a community space that brings people together and promotes wellbeing, inclusion and social connection.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of the café.
- Carrying out food preparation, baking, cooking, and buffet production.
- Providing excellent customer service to all visitors.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
- Supporting café opening and closing procedures and cash handling when required.
- Working with and supporting volunteers.
- Building positive relationships with people from all backgrounds, including children, older people and vulnerable individuals.
- Assisting with community events and activities.
- Helping us maintain an environmentally sustainable café.
- Running front of house and being a welcoming presence.
- Assisting or leading small community/work experience cooking sessions.
What We're Looking For
You will have:
- Experience working with food preparation, cooking, and handling food safely.
- A confident, positive, understanding, and helpful personality.
- An understanding of food hygiene standards.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
- Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Level 2 Culinary Skills or Professional Cookery qualification (or equivalent).
