We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer-focused Receptionist to join our Indigo Operations team, based in the heart of Peterborough city centre. You will be the first point of contact for residents, visitors and customers, providing a professional, welcoming service while supporting the wider team with a range of administrative and housing-related tasks. This is a varied role that suits someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the first point of contact on reception, over the phone and face-to-face
- Supporting customers with queries relating to repairs, accounts, bills, estate issues and benefits
- Providing administrative support to the Service Manager and Assistant Manager
- Assisting with property allocations and lettings to minimise void periods
- Liaising with utility companies during void periods and recording meter readings
- Supporting tenancy administration, including renewals
- Raising purchase orders, processing invoices and managing stock
- Carrying out general office duties such as data entry, spreadsheets, filing, scanning, minute-taking and meeting organisation
- Supporting resident welfare checks and wider housing management administration
- Handling sensitive and confidential information in line with data protection requirements
What we're looking for:
- Essential:
- Experience in an administrative or reception role
- Excellent customer service skills, both face-to-face and over the phone
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and similar systems
- Good numeracy skills with the ability to handle basic rent and account calculations
- Ability to communicate clearly, patiently and tactfully
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Desirable:
- Experience working in housing or a customer-facing public service environment
- Knowledge of rent accounting or welfare benefits
- Experience using financial or housing management systems
