Are you a qualified accountant with a passion for financial accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement? Cross Keys Homes are looking for a Financial Accountant to take the lead on financial and taxation reporting, provide expert advice across the organisation, and liaise with key external stakeholders including auditors, HMRC, and professional advisors.
Your key responsibilities would include:
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, audit schedules, and quarterly funder returns
- Manage VAT, CIS, and corporation tax returns, including VAT partial exemption calculations
- Provide expert financial advice to managers and internal stakeholders
- Liaise with auditors, regulators, banks, HMRC, and third parties
- Oversee reconciliations, control accounts, and day-to-day financial transactions
- Maintain and enhance the internal control assurance framework
- Manage finance systems and represent the group in internal and external forums
- Lead on fraud prevention and reporting
- Line manage, coach, and develop a direct report
- Act as deputy to the Service Manager, Financial Accounts when required
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent and working towards ACCA/CIMA (or fully qualified)
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and statutory reporting
- Experience in financial accounting, VAT compliance, and tax reporting
- Ability to prepare and consolidate group accounts
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, LOOKUP, IF functions)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in the housing or not-for-profit sector
Desirable:
- Fully qualified ACCA/CIMA
- Experience with Open Accounts financial software
- Knowledge of IFRS and VAT Partial Exemption Special Methods
- Previous line management experience
