WestRaven Community Café is looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Assistant Chefto support the delivery of affordable, nutritious food for local residents. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your culinary skills in a role that combines hospitality with social impact.

As part of our café team, you will help create a welcoming community hub where people can eat, meet, learn and connect, making a real difference to the lives of residents in Westwood and Ravensthorpe.

About the Role

\n

\n

Working closely with the Café Manager, you will support all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the café, helping to deliver fresh, healthy and affordable meals while ensuring excellent standards of food hygiene, customer service and health and safety.

\n

\n

This is a hands-on role that will see you preparing food, contributing to menu development, supporting community events and helping maintain the café as a valued local resource.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver the daily food menu with the support of the Café Manager.
  • \n

  • Provide operational support and cover for the Café Manager when required.
  • \n

  • Support the management of health and safety within the café environment.
  • \n

  • Contribute to menu planning, creating healthy and nutritious meals using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.
  • \n

  • Assist with stock control and ordering processes when required.
  • \n

  • Support community events and activities that help engage local residents.
  • \n

  • Build positive relationships with customers, community groups and stakeholders.
  • \n

  • Ensure food hygiene, HACCP and health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • \n

  • Act as a positive ambassador for WestRaven Community Café and Garden.

Essential

  • Experience working in a kitchen environment preparing meals for large numbers of people.
  • \n

  • Understanding of health, nutrition and healthy eating.
  • \n

  • Experience of menu planning that delivers quality, choice and value.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety regulations within catering.
  • \n

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • \n

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to promote the café and attract new customers and community groups.
  • \n

  • Level 2 qualification in Culinary Skills, Professional Cookery or equivalent.
  • \n

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • \n

  • Ability to work some weekends as required.
