About the Federation
Based in the socio‑economically and culturally diverse London Borough of Croydon, our Federation of two nursery schools provides early education and wider family support services for children aged under five and their families.
About the role
The successful applicant will play a major role in the day‑to‑day life of the Nursery School Office. They must be highly motivated, able to use their own initiative, and able to adapt to a range of tasks. They should be able to work efficiently and calmly, with good interpersonal skills, and have experience working in an office environment. The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management of manual and computerised record/information systems ensuring these are completed in accordance with regulatory and Federation Business Management Plans.
- Analyse and evaluate data/information and produce reports / information / data as required.
- Undertake day‑to‑day administrative tasks, including complex procedures and ICT‑based tasks.
- Provide personal, administrative and organisational support to other staff.
- Provide administrative and organisational support to the Governing Body.
- Complete and submit complex forms, returns etc., including those to outside agencies such as DfES.
- Undertake agreed administration tasks, as directed by the School Business Manager, to support the day‑to‑day upkeep of the HR and Payroll systems used by the Federation to ensure workforce compliance.
Key Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant discipline.
- Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation in respect of schools and children’s centres.
- Very good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Effective use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources; very good ICT skills.
- Ability to relate well to children and adults.
- Work constructively as part of a team, understanding Federation roles and responsibilities and one’s own position within these.
- Ability to self‑evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
- SIMS experience preferred.

- Reports to: School Business Manager
- Location: Crosfield Nursery School
- Contract: Permanent
- Start date: 2nd September 2026
- Pattern: Term‑time only + 1 week, 32.5 hours per week (Mon‑Thurs 8:15am‑3:45pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch break, Fri 8:15am‑12:45pm)
- Grade: NJC Grade 5 £33,012 pro rata
