Crosby Composites (established in 1982) is the number one composite manufacturer in the UK, excelling in the design and manufacture of high-quality carbon fibre parts. Our global customers cover Formula 1, motorsport but primarily automotive, making components and bodywork for some of the most prestigious and outrageous hyper cars in the world. Our services in supporting this include conceptual design, bespoke tooling and manufacturing (with in-house state of the art spray painting, kit cutting and multiple large autoclaves).
The purpose of this role is to support the Paint Manager and the Paint-Shop in the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring that we meet/exceed customer expectations and operate to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities- Exterior polishing of parts, ensuring you are using the correct material and tools.
- Ensuring finished parts do not have defects before shipping forward.
- Adhere to all requirements for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
- Follow work instructions.
- Understanding the preparation process required in order to achieve a high paint standard.
- Quality checks on completion.
- Ability to produce high-quality parts.
- Meeting the customer requirements.
- Taking out any imperfections in the paint.
- Flattening, polishing and touching up parts.
- Confidence in using all the necessary tools and equipment to achieve a polished part.
- Previous carbon fibre prepping experience an advantage.
- Preparation of raw parts for primer.
- Preparation of primer for topcoat.
- Able to remove shape issues from a panel to give a flat surface.
- Able to use filler for pinholes and voids.
- Experience in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of the Automotive or Motorsport industry.
- Able to work to deadlines.
- Can follow verbal and written instructions.
- Works well within a team and independently.
