As an apprentice, you will fully commit to the 20% off-the-job training requirements of the role, alongside your normal day to day job.
This is managed through 1 day per week at college.

- Manufacturing Apprenticeship - Job Description
- As a Manufacturing Apprentice, you will be based within both the
Melt-Out and CNC departments , gaining hands-on experience across two key areas of our advanced composite manufacturing process.
You will learn to manufacture and prepare a range of components, patterns, moulds and tooling, working to strict safety, quality and production requirements.
The apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to develop practical manufacturing skills while gaining an understanding of how CNC machining and Melt-Out processes contribute to the production of high-quality composite components.
Working alongside experienced members of the team, you will develop your technical knowledge, practical skills and understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, quality standards and production requirements.
This role is part of an apprenticeship scheme which will lead to a qualification and/or company standard approval process.
- Operational Responsibilities
- Final preparation of various patterns, moulds and castings.
- Carrying out Melt-Out processes in accordance with defined procedures.
- Using a variety of hand tools, small air tools and abrasive paper to a high standard.
- Preparing components and tooling for subsequent manufacturing processes.
- Inspecting work to ensure required quality standards are met.
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings and process instructions.
- Checking route card instructions are correct and reporting any discrepancies.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- CNC
- Developing practical skills and knowledge within the CNC department.
- Learning to operate CNC machinery safely and effectively following appropriate training.
- Preparing materials, tooling and components for CNC machining.
- Developing an understanding of CNC machining processes and how they are used within composite manufacturing.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
- Carrying out basic inspection and dimensional checks on machined components.
- Understanding CNC programmes and how they relate to the manufacturing process.
- Supporting the CNC team with the preparation and manufacture of patterns, moulds, tooling and components.
- Maintaining equipment and reporting any faults or issues promptly.
- Following all relevant health, safety and quality procedures.
- General Manufacturing Responsibilities
- Help achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity.
- Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
