ER / People Advisor will act as a trusted partner to managers and employees, providing first-line advice, guidance, and coaching across all aspects of People services. You will ensure policies and procedures are applied correctly, employment law is followed, and workplace concerns are addressed effectively to minimise risk and strengthen engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert advisory services to support a leader-led People culture.
- Handle and resolve queries received by the Advisory team.
- Provide guidance on employment matters including conduct, performance, contractual queries, absence management, flexible working, and Occupational Health referrals.
- Manage ER cases such as disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, and absence issues.
- Use Jira to manage workload and ensure timely resolution of HR tasks, meeting SLAs and service expectations.
- Coach managers and attend relevant meetings as required.
- Assist in designing and delivering manager development programs (e.g., performance reviews, absence management, discipline and grievance handling).
- Identify risks, track issues, and drive process improvements for efficiency and quality.
- Contribute to automation and manager self-service initiatives.
- Interpret and apply policies and escalate matters appropriately.
Skills & Competencies:
- Extensive experience in a People Advisory role with proven ER case management.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS Codes, and best practices.
- Excellent relationship management and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Experience with SMCR and FCA Conduct Rules (desirable).
- Exceptional written communication skills for reports and policy documents.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and trend identification.
