A well-established national law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its busy Child Care team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal support experience, ideally within Family or Care Law, to join a supportive and collaborative environment with genuine long-term development opportunities.
Working closely with experienced solicitors, the successful candidate will provide legal and administrative support on both Legal Aid and privately funded child care matters. The role would suit an organised and proactive individual who is confident managing competing priorities within a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities- Providing administrative and legal support to solicitors within the Child Care team
- Preparing legal documents, correspondence, and court bundles
- Liaising with clients, courts, barristers, local authorities, and third parties
- Managing diaries, appointments, and case documentation
- Assisting with legal aid applications and file compliance
- Supporting with file opening, billing, and general case administration
- Maintaining excellent levels of client care throughout the legal process
- Previous experience within a legal assistant or legal support role
- Experience within Family, Child Care, or Legal Aid work advantageous
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Professional and empathetic approach to client care
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage deadlines
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Proactive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude
