Scrub Theatre Practitioner – General, Laparoscopic and mainly Bariatric

Location: Bupa Cromwell Hospital – SW5 0TU

Salary: £37,080 to £46,890 per annum plus benefits

Shift pattern: Long Days 07:30 to 21:00 / Early 07:45 to 15:45 / Late 13:00 to 21:00

Full time 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of patients as directed by the surgical team and ensure specimen labelling and dispatch to the laboratory is correct.
  • Control cross‑infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, maintaining a clean working environment and performing decontamination, sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
  • Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to create a welcoming environment.
  • Prepare patients for anaesthetics and surgical procedures.
  • Provide assistance in clinical and surgical procedures.
  • Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring patient, visitor and staff safety.
  • Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate peri‑operative patient care.
  • Participate in delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff.

Qualifications

  • 1st level registration Adult and/or Children or Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies / ODP Level 3 NVQ / ODA 752.
  • Previous peri‑operative experience in General, Laparoscopic and mainly Bariatric is essential.
  • NMC or HCPC registered.
  • Ability to deliver high standards of care.
  • Knowledge of current professional nursing issues.
