As a Bank Children and Young Person's Occupational Therapist, you will be able to undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. You will provide a client-centred and evidence-based service to a caseload of babies, children and young people under the age of 18-years-old primarily in an outpatient setting. You will receive referrals mostly from consultants, GP clinics and external routes including nurseries/schools and directly from parents and carers.

The post holder will offer assessments, interventions and parental/carer education primarily to a paediatric caseload with developmental, neurological and learning concerns and diagnoses e.g. cerebral palsy, developmental coordination disorders (DCD), sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and ADHD. You will be competent in using appropriate standardised assessments and outcome measures for this patient group and will be able to assess equipment needs.

This role offers an opportunity to actively participate in developing, growing and shaping CYP therapy services in our new purpose-built CYP therapy department by engaging with other parts of the Bupa family, referrers, local nurseries and schools, and other external agencies. The post holder will be working closely with the MDT and senior staff in the department and wider hospital.

What you'll do:

  • To practise as an autonomous and accountable professional using reflective practice and clinical reasoning in undertaking specialist assessment to provide individualised assessments and interventions for each patient.
  • To provide appropriate information, education and support for your client group, families and carers.
  • To obtain informed, valid consent on an ongoing basis which endeavours to keep patients involved in their own health care plan.
  • To liaise with colleagues as appropriate to ensure the effective co‐ordination of the patient treatment and ongoing aftercare as appropriate.
  • To promote dignity, privacy and safety at all times, with particular consideration of the patient's cultural, spiritual and personal needs and preferences.
  • To complete all Mandatory Training, online or face‐to‐face, according to hospital policy.

What you'll bring:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Proven up‐to‐date knowledge and experience in a variety of conditions with babies, children and young people including neurology, neurodevelopment, DCD and sensory processing.
  • Knowledge of standardised paediatric assessments and outcome measures and competent in administering and analysing them.
  • Sound clinical reasoning skills
  • Commitment to multi-disciplinary team working
  • Evidence of recent CPD
  • Record of up‐to‐date Safeguarding Children level 3 training
  • UK healthcare experience
  • Desirable:

  • Sensory integration training
  • Experience in working in a private setting
