King Edward VII's Hospital is a 56-bed private hospital in Marylebone with four operating theatres, delivering consultant-led care across elective, day-case, and inpatient surgery. Surgical services include orthopaedic procedures, women's health and gynaecology, urology, general surgery, endoscopy, diagnostic procedures, ophthalmic surgery, dermatology and minor surgery, focusing on minimally invasive techniques, efficient patient pathways, and rapid recovery.
As Lead Practitioner – Robotics, experienced in Urology, Gynaecology and Colorectal, you will develop the robotic service in line with organisational strategy, work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, and act as a patient advocate during the peri-operative period.
Key Responsibilities- Trained and assessed as fully competent in skills and activities required of the role to maintain high quality patient care.
- Assist in all aspects of the surgical speciality as required, liaising with members of the surgical team in the delivery of care.
- Use specialist knowledge and skills to integrate assessment findings, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care for own caseload.
- Establish effective working relationships with the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the speciality and share this with others to positively influence patient care.
- Challenge poor practice and inappropriate intervention in the speciality.
- Lead practice development/service improvement initiatives and innovations related to the patient journey.
- Identify needs for service developments to improve clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
- Participate in the development and implementation of protocols, policies, and guidelines.
- Assess the effectiveness of management plans in achieving long-term patient outcomes.
- Provide specialist advice and education for patients and relatives/carers.
- Develop educational programmes for patients/carers to promote understanding and self-management.
- Safeguard the welfare and safety of patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Ensure safe transfer of patient to recovery area with appropriate post-operative instructions.
- Document patient care according to hospital policy.
- RN 1st level registration – NMC registration.
- ODP Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Perioperative Practice – HPC registration.
- Teaching/assessing qualification.
- Current experience as SFA – Desirable.
- Handling of scopes to assist minimally invasive procedures.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience delivering, monitoring, and evaluating training programmes with clinical staff.
- Experience in audit and reviewing practice.
- Experience in the development of policies and protocols to support best practice.
- Experience in complaints and incident management.
- Experience in risk assessment and management.
