As our new
Engineering & Facilities Technician , you'll play a vital role in keeping our Distribution Centre running safely, efficiently and reliably.
You'll maintain and repair a wide range of automated, mechanical, electrical and building systems, responding to day-to-day issues while identifying solutions that improve equipment reliability and maximise uptime.
This is a varied, hands‑on role where no two days are quite the same.
Alongside reactive maintenance, you'll support preventative maintenance programmes, facilities and infrastructure improvements, and continuous improvement projects.
You'll also have the opportunity to share your knowledge with junior technicians and apprentices, helping to build capability across the team while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
Some of your key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system faults across the Distribution Centre.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment availability and minimise operational downtime.
- Support facilities and infrastructure upgrades, modifications and repairs across automated, conveyor and building assets.
- Identify recurring faults and use your technical expertise to develop effective, long‑term solutions and continuous improvements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and service providers while supporting and developing junior technicians and apprentices.
- Complete engineering and facilities activities safely and accurately, maintaining records and ensuring work complies with Cromwell, OEM and Health & Safety requirements.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
- A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, together with an electrical qualification.
- Strong practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical faults.
- A proactive approach to problem solving, with the confidence to work independently and make effective decisions.
- A strong safety and quality mindset, ensuring work is completed in a controlled and compliant manner.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and support the development of others.
- Flexibility to work a weekly rotating two‑shift pattern covering mornings and afternoons and provide additional support for major breakdowns when required.
- HNC/HND in an engineering discipline and
2391 Inspection and Testing qualification would be advantageous.
