We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurse – ICU / ITU to join one of our NHS clients in Surrey/London. This role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU / ITU settings
  • Monitor, assess, and document patients’ clinical conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment
  • Manage patients requiring advanced respiratory support, including ventilated patients
  • Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately
  • Recognise and respond promptly to patient deterioration and emergency situations
  • Operate and manage specialist ICU equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitoring devices
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, doctors, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date patient records in line with NHS and NMC standards
  • Ensure infection prevention and control policies are strictly followed
  • Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families

Requirements

Essential:

  • Valid NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Previous ICU / ITU experience within an NHS or equivalent acute care setting
  • Evidence of up-to-date Statutory and Mandatory (Stat & Man) training
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced critical care environment
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable:

  • Experience caring for ventilated and critically ill patients
  • Tracheostomy care and management experience
  • Knowledge of critical care protocols and equipment
