Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Diabetes Nurse Specialist (DNS) to join a dedicated healthcare team in Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled diabetes specialist to provide high-quality care and support to patients with Type 1, Type 2, gestational, and complex diabetes needs within community and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist diabetes nursing care and clinical assessments.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers regarding diabetes management.
  • Initiate, review, and adjust diabetes treatment plans in line with clinical guidelines.
  • Support patients using insulin therapies, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring systems.
  • Promote self-management and healthy lifestyle interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, GPs, dietitians, podiatrists, and other healthcare professionals.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Significant experience working as a Diabetes Nurse Specialist.
  • Experience managing patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Strong knowledge of insulin management and diabetes technologies.

Desirable Requirements

  • Independent Prescriber qualification.
  • Experience within community diabetes services.
  • Experience using insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems.
  • Relevant diabetes-related postgraduate qualification.
