Cromwell Medical Staffing is currently seeking an experienced Band 5 Registered Nurse – Endoscopy to join one of our leading NHS clients in Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Endoscopy nurse to work within a specialised endoscopy unit, providing high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and bronchoscopy
  • Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure assessments and consent verification
  • Assist endoscopists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and clinical condition throughout procedures and recovery
  • Administer prescribed medications, including sedation, analgesia, and reversal agents, in accordance with clinical guidelines
  • Recognise and respond promptly to complications such as bleeding, perforation, or adverse reactions
  • Provide post-procedure care, monitoring recovery and ensuring safe discharge in line with protocols
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient care, procedures, and recovery progress
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards, including decontamination processes and safe handling of endoscopy equipment
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care

Requirements:

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Minimum 6 months’ recent experience working within an Endoscopy Unit
  • Competent in assisting with endoscopic procedures and patient monitoring
  • Experience in conscious sedation and recovery care
  • Knowledge of endoscopy decontamination processes and infection control standards
  • Ability to recognise and manage clinical deterioration
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Up-to-date mandatory training (e.g., BLS, ILS desirable, Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Infection Control)
