We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intensive Care Nurse (ITU RGN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including ICU and hospital medicine, with proficiency in advanced patient assessment, airway management, and complex medical procedures. This role involves providing expert nursing care to acutely ill patients in a fast-paced environment, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and patient safety standards. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices, along with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to ICU patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications via IV infusion and injections, and managing ventilators.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations.
- Perform advanced procedures such as intubation, suturing, catheterization (including Foley and central lines), and tube feeding management.
- Maintain sterile techniques during invasive procedures and ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, and other disciplines to develop individualized care plans.
- Assist in discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or home care services.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medication administration, pain management, and chronic disease management including Alzheimer’s care or dementia care when applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
- Minimum 6 months of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting (NHS experience desirable).
- Up-to-date mandatory training (e.g., BLS, Manual Handling, Infection Control).
- Right to work in the UK.
