Staff Nurse - Oncology

What you’ll do:

• Provide high quality physical and psychological care with compassion.
• Confidently and safely communicate patients care needs.
• Have the courage to speak up and a commitment to be a patient advocate.
• Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey while demonstrating a culture of customer service.
• Manage care of allocated patients.
• Demonstrate professional awareness and accountability.
• Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area reporting to and from meetings / training updates.
• Recognise the needs for DOL’s assessments, mental capacity assessment and simple and complex safeguarding referrals and highlight any concerns.
• Liaise with the Support Services to ensure all non-clinical needs are met including cultural, sexual, religious, and any other special needs of the patients.
• Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire.
• Deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence.
• Undertake clinical duties in any area reasonably requested ensuring that you practice within your professional competencies and abilities.
• Relate to the sister /Charge Nurse/Lead Nurse in regard to professional issues.
• Maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised.

What you’ll bring:

• Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required.
• First level registration.
• ILS certification.
• Experience in a similar oncology setting (desirable).
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Experience in risk assessment.
• Competent with venepuncture and wound care management.
