How You'll Help Us Make Health Happen

You’ll support patients throughout their dining journey, from explaining menus and taking orders to delivering meals accurately and responding promptly to requests. Your passion for customer service and attention to detail will help ensure every interaction contributes positively to the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a five-star patient dining experience, providing excellent service to patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • Introduce patients to the dining service and explain menus, meal periods and ordering processes.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders, including the use of patient dining tablets and electronic systems.
  • Support patients with menu selections whilst ensuring dietary requirements, allergens and special requests are correctly managed.
  • Prepare, assemble and serve meals and beverages in line with service standards and food safety procedures.
  • Deliver meals to the correct patient at the correct time and temperature.
  • Liaise effectively with ward and clinical teams to ensure safe and appropriate service delivery.
  • Respond to patient requests and concerns promptly, escalating where necessary and following through to resolution.
  • Gather and communicate patient feedback to support continuous service improvement.
  • Maintain clean, safe and well-stocked working environments.
  • Complete food safety records, temperature checks and cleaning schedules.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, fire safety, information governance and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support wider departmental activities and assist colleagues as required.

Key Skills / Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with patients and provide a high standard of personalised service.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen awareness.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using tablets and electronic systems.
  • Flexible approach to working shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional hospitality and customer care.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a private hospital, healthcare or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification, or willingness to achieve this.
  • Formal allergen awareness training.
  • Experience using EPOS or tablet-based ordering systems.
  • Experience working to service standards, procedures and SOPs.
