We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Person to join our team. This position’s primary responsibility is to maintain all automated and building related systems to support the goals of the DC. To provide technical expertise for day-to-day reactive issues and devising solutions to rectify reoccurring problems. With a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical and control principles, all areas will be maintained to a high standard resulting in maximum asset uptime/availability. Utilising technical knowledge, continuous improvement ideas should be developed and implemented alongside that of preventative maintenance programs. With junior apprentices on-shift, knowledge should be openly shared whilst demonstrating good behaviours and safe ways of working.
Responsibilities:
- Be the primary responder for all complex issues.
- Assist with any infrastructure upgrades along with modifications and repairs to DC assets.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and make repair to any mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or controls related system.
- Capable of installing, modifying, repairing and testing of electrical services.
- Ability to work independently on projects and work assignments.
- Work with contractors, service providers and other maintenance personnel.
- Ability to operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Centre.
- Perform work requests and projects as assigned.
- Easily adjusts to changes in priorities, and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies.
- Works in cross-functional teams and work groups to identify and resolve problems by proposing unique and innovative solutions.
- Keeps managers and fellow technicians informed of on-shift issues, updates on assignments, repair functions and PPM schedules.
- Must be available and flexible to support operational changes.
- Able to rotate weekly on a two-shift cycle of Mornings & Afternoons.
- Performs audits and quality checks on PIE, conveyor systems and building assets.
- Leads by example and helps develop junior technicians.
- Provides flexibility to help cover major breakdowns.
- Supports with holiday and sickness cover.
- Identify maintenance task and complete efficiently within time constraint ensuring no areas are left open within the DMMS.
- Build personal development plan to enhance knowledge of all areas.
- Continuously look for gaps or improvements across any internal process or document.
- Always work in a safe and controlled manner adhering to training, expertise, process or OEM guidance.
Experience and Skills Required:
- GCSE level qualifications in English and Maths.
- A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
- Qualified in an electrical discipline.
- HND/HNC qualification in an engineering discipline (Preferable).
- 2391 inspection and testing (Preferable).
