This role will require previous PPE category experience. This role is responsible for developing and managing a product portfolio to drive sales and profitable growth - using market intelligence and industry knowledge to ensure we have the best products to service our customers. Working in partnership with our centrally managed suppliers and in collaboration with cross functional colleagues to maximise supplier commercial opportunities, ensuring the most competitive procurement costs and increasing supplier income.

What will you do on a normal day?

  • Define & execute Category Strategy, to drive category sales, margin, and profitable growth within the PPE market specifically.
  • Develop assortment strategies, for all assigned product categories.
  • Research marketplace trends involving customers, suppliers, and awareness of competitors to identify new product, sourcing, and product content ideas to ensure our assortment and customer experience are the best in class.
  • Select suppliers for existing and new products, merchandising and marketing support, product training support, service level agreement, key performance indications, and general terms & conditions.
  • Drive performance of assigned Categories through our sales organisation.
  • Communicate category plans across the business to create best-in-class customer experiences in omnichannel for assigned categories.
  • Partner with SMEs on Pricing to ensure assigned categories remain competitive, taking account of pricing architecture.
  • Partner with SMEs on product compliance and management of a product certification repository for assigned categories.
  • Partner with SMEs on order cycle and stocking policy, and product life cycle management, including excess and obsolescence stock sell through strategies.
  • Partner with SMEs on Marketing opportunities to develop our Category Marketing plan as well as support what is required centrally.
  • Partner with SMEs on Digital opportunities i.e. PPC and Google PLA’s including the connectivity between supplier and our digital team.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of working within the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Market
  • Proven experience in B2B, industrial supplies and/or MRO product management, marketing, merchandising, new product development, or technical sales.
  • Experience driving category strategy, execution and performance through a sales lead organisation.
  • Ability to develop strategic relationships up to c-suite level internally and externally to align and partner across the business to drive exceptional results financially and strategically.
  • Able to produce and present statistical and financial analysis.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Category Management expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (desirable).
  • Strong decision making and influencing skills across different levels of colleagues and suppliers.
  • Demonstrable commercial knowledge, specifically around supplier commercial agreements.
  • Strong IT skills including a good understanding and usage of Microsoft Office packages.
