We are seeking a Pile Driving Superintendent to join our team. This position is responsible for operating machinery that hammers piles into the ground to support building foundations, bridges, piers, etc., reviewing building plans to ensure pilings are installed accurately. The ideal candidate will be situationally aware, safety-driven, able to manage pile driving crew(s), and effectively oversee multiple work operations.
Duties / Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate pile driving operations including installation of piles, cofferdams, fendering, and foundations.
- Direct and assist crews in setting or guiding placement of pilings (pre-cast, steel, timber) and structural supports.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily activities with project managers, pile drivers, labor crews and foremen.
- Supervise and work with crane operators, rigging crews, and subcontractors to safely complete lifting and placement operations.
- Supervise and move construction materials and other heavy materials on construction sites.
- Monitor jobsite safety, enforce company policies, and conduct safety meetings.
- Accurately read tape measures, precision scales, calipers, and blueprints.
- Comprehend and develop job specifications from construction plans.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Perform work in a marine environment.
- Lead and work from heights (pile drivers will typically be required to climb pile driving leads or work out of a manlift wearing fall protection).
- Physically, workers must be able to see well (naturally or with correction).
- Direct and climb and/or maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Rigging and signaling certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a pile driver, heavy civil, or marine construction with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Ability to acquire and maintain base access.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds and handle noisy environments.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
