Crofton is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing company equipment from cranes (lattice boom and hydraulic), winches, compressors, large pumps, boats and auxiliary equipment to include onsite repairs as well as in the shop repairs.
Duties / Responsibilities:- Complete understanding of all aspects of heavy equipment repairs and rebuilding process.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical problems.
- Repairs of lattice boom and hydraulic cranes to include mobilization and de‑mobilization.
- Maintain and submit maintenance records of all repairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five years of experience as heavy equipment mechanic.
- Must have own tools.
- Ability to pass background check for shipyards.
- TWIC Card.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Post‑secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus).
- 2 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair.
- Welding experience (a plus).
- Manual dexterity.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds and handle noisy environments.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
