Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a practice nurse to join our friendly, seaside practice. We are looking for a practice nurse with Primary care experience. The role includes the usual practice nurse duties such as smear taking, wound care, vaccinations, pill checks and long-term condition reviews.
Responsibilities
- Undertake cytology and action results appropriately
- Routine acute wound care
- Care of chronic wounds, pressure and leg ulcers
- Removal of sutures or staples
- Urinalysis for both acute and chronic conditions
- Family planning contraception
- Hormone replacement treatment monitoring
- ECGs both acute and routine as required
- Peak flow readings
- Chronic disease management (Diabetes)
- Long‑term condition management (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD)
- Hypertension management – 24‑hour blood pressure monitoring and blood pressure checks in clinic
- Ear syringing
- Adult immunisations
- Childhood immunisations
- Prepare and send samples for lab testing
- Chaperoning or assisting another clinician as requested
- Assisting clinicians with minor procedures if required
Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- A demonstrable commitment to professional development
- Experience of working in Primary Care
- Computer literate
- Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised
- Ability to deal with challenging situations and cope under pressure
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Positive interpersonal skills
- Able to work on own without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy
- Treat people with dignity and respect at all times
- Enthusiastic and motivated team worker
Experience
- Working in primary Care
- Experience with Asthma management
- Experience with Diabetes management
- Experience with COPD management
- Experience in leading a team
