The Discovery is a lively, welcoming venue known for great food, friendly service and a buzzing atmosphere from lunch through to late-night sittings. We're seeking an experienced Line Chef / Grill Chef to join our kitchen team and help us deliver consistently excellent dishes to our guests.
What's the Role?
- As a Line Chef / Grill Chef you will work on the hot section, preparing and cooking dishes to menu specification and maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
- Prepare and cook menu items on the grill and hot pass to the required standards and portion sizes.
- Work efficiently on a busy line, ensuring timely delivery of food during service peaks.
- Maintain consistent plate presentation and quality, following recipes and kitchen procedures.
- Support mise en place, prep work and stock rotation to ensure freshness and reduce waste.
- Keep the grill, fryers and surrounding areas clean and sanitised throughout shifts.
- Follow all food safety, allergen and H&S policies and report any issues to the Head Chef or management.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to support service flow, covering other stations when required.
- Contribute ideas to menu development and improvements when asked.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working on a hot line or grill in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen controls.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and plate quality.
- Strong team working skills and a positive, can‑do attitude.
- Flexible approach to working hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
