As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Technical Data Scientist to join Croda's Data Science & Knowledge Management team, supporting chemistry- and/or biology-led R&D projects. You'll work closely with scientists and R&D teams to turn complex data into practical models and tools that accelerate research and improve decision-making. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to help grow and scale computational solutions across global R&D.
Who We're Looking For
- MSc/PhD in a relevant quantitative field with a strong background in biology and/or chemistry.
- Strong understanding of optimization techniques, predictive modelling (especially machine learning for tabular data), and deep learning (e.g., computer vision).
- Demonstrated experience solving complex data challenges using Python.
- Strong analytical skills and critical reasoning, with the ability to rapidly understand complex R&D and business activities.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- High ambition, drive for results, and focus on execution; proactive, creative problem-solver with strong analytical thinking.
- Experience building and maintaining applications or internal tools for delivering models to end users (e.g., Dash, FastAPI, Streamlit) is desirable but not essential.
- Practical experience with MLOps and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure) is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with software development best practices: version control (Git), testing, modular code, and code review is desirable but not essential.

- Work with R&D teams to identify, shape and deliver data science solutions.
- Inspire and advise R&D scientists on digital opportunities.
- Analyse data and build, compare and improve models using Python.
- Integrate models into bespoke digital solutions.
- Combine and work with data from different scientific sources.
