An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join the UK Manufacturing Finance team, based at our Cowick Hall offices in East Yorkshire. This role represents the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to gain invaluable experience within finance. The responsibilities include variance analysis, stock costing, cost centre reporting and supporting wider accounting activities. You will support financial reporting by delivering insightful ad‑hoc analysis to assist and inform senior site stakeholders on key business decisions.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work to agreed deadlines under pressure
  • A collaborative mindset, with confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong communication skills with both finance and non-finance personnel
  • Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively to improve and standardise processes
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and experience with ERP systems (SAP desirable)
  • Either experience in a similar role or beginning/currently studying ACA/CIMA/ACCA, with a commitment to ongoing development
  • Exposure to audit, financial accounts or management accounts environments
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Have a driving licence and the ability to drive for work

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering timely, accurate service to internal customers
  • Preparing month‑end cost centre and management reports
  • Supporting cost centre managers with budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting the delivery of high‑quality site management accounts
  • Providing flexible support to the finance team when required
  • Travelling regularly between our UK manufacturing sites (Leek, Ditton & Rawcliffe)
  • Contributing to inventory control and assurance across UK manufacturing sites, supporting stock monitoring, reconciliation, and physical count processes
  • Support the tracking, analysis, and reporting of production costs to ensure accuracy and cost control
  • Assist with the review of manufacturing variances at the UK sites
  • Any other ad‑hoc requests from the sites or finance
