As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Research Scientist to join the Fermentation Team within the Biotechnology R&T Group. Based in the purpose-built laboratories at the Daresbury Science Park, your role will be to support the development and scale‑up of Croda’s rapidly expanding Biotechnology pipeline.
Who We’re Looking For
- PhD with experience in microbiology, biotechnology or chemical engineering discipline
- Experience in developing scalable microbial cell culture processes in a laboratory, pilot plant and/or production environment
- Technical background in strain engineering of fungi, including culture and genetic manipulation
- Advanced molecular biology skills, including cloning, DNA & RNA manipulation, and organism transformation
- You will have strong communication and networking skills
- Hands‑on experience using a wide range of microbial systems comprising more than one bacterial, fungal and yeast processes
- Experience in development and/or scale‑up of downstream process at laboratory and/or pilot scale
- Experience in transferring bioprocesses to industrial plants
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be expected to work closely with our internal production team(s) and our external toll partners to undertake efficient technology transfer to establish these processes at an industrial scale. You will also be expected to work closely with our commercial, IP, regulatory, application, and sales and marketing teams to ensure the processes are efficiently developed and established into commercial‑scale manufacture.
