An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join the European Finance team, based at our Cowick Hall offices in East Yorkshire. This role represents the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to gain invaluable experience within finance. The responsibilities of the role include balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, cost centre reporting as well as having a willingness to accept additional accounting duties. You will also ensure accurate central reporting by completing regular analysis where appropriate to reduce the risk of financial implications on the business.

  • You will have knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations, cost centre reporting and intercompany reconciliations
  • You must have a strong work ethic, organised and able to work under pressure
  • Good teamwork skills to work alongside other finance colleagues to help improve and streamline processes.
  • Management/financial accounts experience
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Experience of dealing with multi-functional teams/colleagues
  • Experience of ERP (SAP) systems is desirable
  • Audit experience or exposure
  • Ideally Part Qualified ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA and actively studying towards completing the qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reviewing cost centres and posting required adjustments
  • Preparing month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaising with Croda entities around the world to reconcile intercompany statements
  • Liaising with cost centre managers to prepare forecasts and budgets
  • Assisting with the UK VAT return preparation
  • Working with others in the finance team to deliver timely management accounts
  • Other ad hoc requirements
