As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for an Applications Scientist to join our photoprotection R&D applications team at Ditton. You will be responsible for generating impactful research data to advance Croda’s portfolio of photoprotection ingredients, including developing and testing a range of photoprotection ingredients in cosmetic formulations. You will be an innovative scientist and proactive problem solver You will be an effective communicator, capable of building effective working relationships and producing a high standard of written work You will be comfortable using your own initiative as well as working as part of a wider team A genuine curiosity to understand and solve problems, and to identify patterns and correlations of the generated data Excellent planning and organisation skills to effectively manage own workload along with experience of working on projects simultaneously A degree in Chemistry or equivalent work experience is required with some laboratory experience being essential Formulation experience and a background in Sun Care is desirable but not essential What You’ll Be Doing Be part of a team that values diversity, sustainability, and continuous innovation, where your ideas and contributions matter. Design and carry out laboratory experiments, applying technical knowledge to evaluate and formulate new and existing products to meet market needs including solving complex and straightforward problems. Generate and review the results and seek answers to problems encountered through collection of data and investigation. Responsible for planning and running multiple projects and carrying out experiments. Typically, projects can range from a couple of days to several months. As part of the projects data generation, formulation development and testing will be expected. Provide a technical support service to sales and marketing as and when required, e.g. answering customer technical enquiries, recommending products and undertaking training sessions. Follow site safety requirements, ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with statutory, group and legislative requirements.
