As we deliver our ambitious2030 Growth Strategy, we’re looking for anIndustrial Placement Student tojoin our Sustainable Polymers Team for 12 months from August/September 2027.The role will involve working on the research and development of globalprojects.
You will be responsible for thedevelopment of novel, green polymeric materials across all business sectorswithin Croda. There will be significant opportunities to make decisions withinindividual projects and duties will include practical laboratory work,problem-solving, organisation, and report-writing. The project work carried outduring the placement will be of sufficient academic complexity to meet therequirements of a university industrial placement degree course. The successfulcandidate will benefit from regular career development & coaching meetings,networking opportunities, and advancement of skills.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A Level in Chemistry and be working towards a 2.1 in a Chemistry or related degree.
- You should have good laboratory skills and be able to communicate effectively both in reports and verbally.
- You will need to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage and plan your own workload.
- Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
- Passion for sustainability and green chemistry
- Knowledge / experience of polymer chemistry (desirable but not essential)
- Awareness of SHE within a lab environment (desirable but not essential)
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Conduct a lab-based research project, synthesising novel, sustainable polymers for commercial applications
- Complete routine analysis using techniques including GPC, HPLC, FTIR and NMR
- Keep accurate written records up to date
- Present regular updates to the local synthesis team and other relevant stakeholders from the wider Croda community
