The Independent Living Life Enrichment Associate is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordinating and implementing of a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the social, emotional, intellectual, environmental, vocational and recreational needs of the resident population.

SUMMARY

The Independent Living Life Enrichment Associate is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordinating and implementing of a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the social, emotional, intellectual, environmental, vocational and recreational needs of the resident population.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Assists with planning, coordinating and implementing a wide scope of activities for Independent Living with the intent of including all residents in some area of activity.
  • Posts and/or distributes information and material regarding events, programs, activities, etc.
  • Inputs and maintains material on the resident information system TouchTown.
  • Assists with preparation of the monthly Life Enrichment Calendar and supplemental materials for Independent Living.
  • Assess current supplies and orders necessary supplies, films, crafts, etc. for upcoming programs.
  • Works with the large sound system in the auditorium and helps coordinate use of the smaller portable sound systems for individual events. (Introductory training provided)
  • Works with residents/resident groups to ensure proper set up.
  • Weekend and evening work is often required due to the nature of the position, thus flexibility of schedule is permitted with approval of the Department Director.
  • Must interact courteously, tactfully and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and morale.
  • Driving a van or 12 or 14 passenger bus for scheduled special events in assuring resident safety. (Introductory training provided)

Other Duties:

  • Works closely with the Director of Life Enrichment in the development of Life Enrichment programs.
  • Encourages residents to take an active part in the community and recreational programs.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree preferred, with emphasis in recreational therapy or related fields. Two years of appropriate professional experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration. Must be CPR certified within 30 days of employment.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong interdepartmental communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and/or Adobe Reader.
  • Familiarity with required electronics, including (but not limited to) iPads, tablets, smart TVs, and digital cameras.

SHIFT: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with flexibility. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
