A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced RPG Analyst Programmer to join our growing IT function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex business problems, and takes pride in delivering support and robust, scalable solutions on IBM i / AS400 platforms.
You’ll play a key part in analysing business requirements, designing technical solutions, and developing high‑quality RPG applications that support critical business operations. This is a hands‑on role with plenty of support involved and scope to influence system improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Analyse business processes and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using RPG (RPGLE, Free Format) on IBM i / AS400.
- Support system integrations, data flows, and batch processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and wider IT teams.
- Contribute to ongoing system modernisation and continuous improvement projects.
- Produce clear technical documentation and maintain development standards.
- Strong commercial experience with RPGLE, Free Format RPG, and CL programming.
- Solid understanding of IBM i / AS400 environments.
- Proven ability to analyse requirements and deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
- Experience with SQL, DB2, and data modelling.
- ERP experience desirable.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach.
