Fleet Overview
They operate a national fleet of 1,000+ vehicles across more than 600 sites and offices, comprising:
- Around 925 multi-driver vehicles allocated to operational services
- 75 maintenance vehicles
- 100 company cars and salary sacrifice vehicles
The Role
The Group Fleet Manager will lead and develop the fleet function, ensuring the efficient, compliant and cost-effective management of all vehicles. You will oversee a small internal fleet support team and act as the principal liaison between internal stakeholders, suppliers and senior management.
The role requires strong analytical, financial and communication skills to drive performance, reduce costs, and support compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and support the internal Fleet Team.
- Ensure the safe, efficient and effective management of leased, hired and owned vehicles.
- Analyse and manage fuel spend, vehicle tracking data and daily rental expenditure.
- Ensure full policy compliance across more than 4,000 company and grey fleet drivers.
- Act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, advisors and external fleet suppliers.
- Provide clear advice and guidance to drivers and line managers on fleet policy and best practice.
- Maintain accurate fleet, supplier and invoicing data across all systems.
- Produce monthly management information reports including fuel card usage, SMR (service, maintenance and repair) expenditure, and driver compliance for the senior management and executive teams.
- Work collaboratively to provide accurate data/reporting.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a direct management role overseeing a fleet of 500+ vehicles.
- Proven record of value addition and operational efficiencies.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (data analysis, financial modelling, reporting).
- Highly organised and able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage both operational and executive audiences.
- Analytical, proactive, and results-driven with strong problem-solving ability.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check prior to commencing employment. The cost of this will be met by the employer.
