A South London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Streetworks Coordinator to join their Network Management team. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Network Management, you will support the effective delivery of the Council’s statutory duties under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA), alongside local permit schemes across the borough.

You will be responsible for assessing and inspecting streetworks, coordinating utility activities, and ensuring works across the borough’s road network—particularly on SRN and TLRN routes—are carried out efficiently and compliantly.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assessing and inspecting streetworks to ensure compliance with legislation and permit conditions
  • Coordinating planned works across multiple stakeholders, including utility companies
  • Monitoring the impact of works on the highway network and minimising disruption
  • Ensuring compliance with the Council’s Network Management Duty
  • Supporting the development and improvement of processes and systems for coordinating streetworks
  • Undertaking site inspections in line with the Red Book and reinstatement inspections under the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH)
About You:

You will bring strong technical knowledge and practical experience within streetworks and network management, alongside excellent communication and coordination skills.

Essential knowledge & skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004, and the Highways Act 1980
  • Strong understanding of compliance inspections, including the Red Book and SROH
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relating to highway works
  • Understanding of local government and contract management processes
Experience required:
  • Proven experience coordinating and managing streetworks or roadworks
  • Experience conducting site inspections and ensuring legislative compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Experience dealing effectively with conflict
Qualifications:
  • NRSWA Accreditation (essential)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
