A Central London local authority is seeking an experienced Contracts Commercial Lead (Interim) to support delivery of its Fit for the Future 2030 transformation programme. This is a high-impact role focused on improving commercial performance, driving value for money, and optimising outcomes across a diverse contract portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead rapid strategic reviews of priority contracts to identify savings, renegotiation opportunities, rebates and commercial improvements.
  • Prioritise high-value contracts and upcoming extensions to maximise near-term savings and mitigate risk.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure improved commercial terms while maintaining service quality and compliance.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal and operational teams to strengthen contract management practices.
  • Review cost models, pricing mechanisms and commercial levers, recommending improved structures and incentives.
  • Establish clear governance, reporting and benefits tracking, including savings and performance reporting.
  • Embed commercial best practice and transfer knowledge across contract management teams.

  • Strong commercial and financial analysis capability, including spend analysis and benchmarking.
