We’re recruiting for experienced Signalling professionals to join the railways as Team Leaders within Signals & Telecoms. This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for candidates who still want to be “on the tools” while guiding and developing a team of Technicians. Following a period of modernisation and restructuring, these teams are now made up of developing technicians who require strong, experienced leadership. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient delivery while supporting the next generation of signalling engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead from the front in a hands‑on capacity across maintenance and faulting activities
  • Carry out complex fault finding on signalling systems
  • Organise and control the safe and efficient delivery of work on site
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards and procedures
  • Support, coach and develop less experienced technicians
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and performance across a 24/7 operational environment

Essential Requirements

  • Valid (or previously held) IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230)
  • Proven experience in railway signalling, including faulting and maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. NR/L3/SIG/10663, NR/L3/SIG/11231)
  • Demonstrable experience organising and delivering work safely and efficiently
  • Confident communicator with the ability to lead and influence
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Previous Team Leader or supervisory experience within signalling
  • Willingness to drive as required (company van provided)

Working Pattern

  • 24/7 shift roster (days, nights, evenings)
  • Fully on‑site role across Leeds, Wakefield, and Sheffield
