Finance Business Partner – London/Hybrid
£480 a day (Umbrella)


A Central London Local Authority is seeking a skilled Finance Business Partner to provide financial oversight and commercial expertise to support the council’s Environment service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical financial advice, briefing papers, and tailored training for diverse audiences.
  • Deliver financial and commercial insights on high-profile projects, programmes, and capital projects.
  • Support the closure of accounts, ensuring accurate income and expenditure reporting, reconciling balance sheet items, and completing reserve drawdowns and accruals.
  • Assist service and budget managers in budget development and monthly financial monitoring.
  • Analyse, prepare, and review key commercial documents, including project agreements, payment mechanisms, and procurement tenders.

Experience & Requirements:

  • A full CCAB/CIMA (or overseas equivalent) qualification with relevant financial management experience.
  • A strong understanding of the financial challenges facing local authorities.
  • Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis.
  • Experience in strategic financial planning and budget-setting techniques.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and business partnering skills, with a commitment to equality and diversity.
  • Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner within local government.
  • Experience managing a significant organisational function or service in a large, multi-disciplined organisation with comparable scope, budgets, and resources.
  • Experience in financial monitoring of capital projects.
